The Walt Disney Company was founded on October 16, 1923 when one, Mr. Walter E. Disney signed a contract with M.J. Winkler to produce a series of Alice Comedies. The company was first known as the Disney Brothers Company. The company continued to grow from that day on, with expansion into several different areas of family entertainment. Today The Walt Disney Company is one of the world's largest companies and, according to Forbes, the #17th World's Most Valuable Brand behind brands such as Apple, Microsoft, Coca-Cola and McDonald's.
